Summary
The E-Umrah visa application is completed online through Saudi Arabia’s official Nusuk platform (nusuk.sa / umrah.nusuk.sa), either directly by the pilgrim or through a licensed agency acting on their behalf. This guide walks through the actual application sequence, screen by screen: account creation, entering passport details, the mandatory accommodation and transport booking, document upload, payment, and approval. For the full list of required documents and eligibility rules, see our Umrah visa requirements guide.
Before You Start: What You’ll Need on Hand
Have these ready before you open the application, so you’re not stopping mid-process to go find them:
- A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date
- A digital passport-style photo
- Your travel dates (approximate is fine to start)
- A payment card for the visa fee
For the complete document checklist — vaccination certificates, proof of Muslim identity, and country-specific requirements — see the requirements guide before you begin.
The E-Umrah Visa Application, Step by Step
Step 1 — Create Your Nusuk Account
Go to the official Nusuk Umrah platform and register. You’ll provide your mobile number and email, then verify via an SMS or email code. This account is where your visa, permits, and bookings will all live once approved — keep the login saved, you’ll need it again closer to travel for Umrah and Rawdah permits.
If you’re applying through an agency (including through us), your agency typically creates and manages this step on your behalf as part of their visa service — confirm which applies to you before assuming you need to do this yourself.
Step 2 — Enter Your Passport and Personal Details
Enter your passport information exactly as it appears on the document — name, passport number, date of birth, nationality and expiry date. Mismatches between what you enter and your physical passport are one of the most common causes of delay, so double-check character by character rather than relying on autofill.
Step 3 — Choose Your Package or Visa Type
Depending on your nationality and the current rules, you’ll either select a bundled package (visa plus accommodation and transport together) or, where a standalone visa option is available, apply for the visa separately. As of the current rules, pre-booked and verified accommodation and transport must be confirmed before the visa is issued — this is a requirement introduced through 2025–2026 updates, not an optional add-on, so budget for arranging it at this stage rather than after approval.
Step 4 — Upload Your Documents
Upload the documents from your pre-application checklist: passport bio page, photo, and vaccination certificate where required. The platform will flag missing or unreadable uploads before you can proceed — a blurry photo of a document is the single most avoidable cause of a rejected first attempt.
Step 5 — Confirm Accommodation and Transport
Confirm the hotel and transport booking linked to your application. These need to be Nusuk-compliant or booked through a licensed provider — an unverified booking can hold up visa issuance even after everything else is approved.
Step 6 — Pay the Visa Fee
Complete payment through the platform’s secure checkout. Fees vary by visa type, nationality and package inclusions and change periodically, so confirm the current amount on the platform itself rather than going by a figure from an older article — including this one.
Step 7 — Wait for Approval
Processing typically takes a few business days, though this can extend during peak season. You’ll get a notification through the platform once a decision is made. Approved visas are generally valid for 30 days from the date of issuance, not from your intended travel date — a change from how the visa used to be dated, so don’t assume old advice about validity windows still applies.
Step 8 — Register Your Umrah Permits (After Visa Approval)
Getting the visa isn’t the final step — it grants entry to the country. Separately, inside the Nusuk app, you’ll need to book your Umrah permit (and, in Madinah, a Rawdah permit if you plan to visit that area of the Prophet’s Mosque) ahead of performing the rituals. These are managed inside your Nusuk account after the visa is issued, closer to your travel dates.
Common Mistakes That Delay Approval
- Entering passport details that don’t exactly match the physical document — even a single-character mismatch can cause a hold
- Uploading a blurry or cropped document photo instead of a clean scan
- Assuming accommodation/transport booking is optional — under current rules it isn’t, and applying without it will stall the process
- Applying too close to travel dates, especially in Ramadan or peak season when processing slows
- Confusing the visa fee with the Umrah permit — they’re separate steps, and the permit still needs booking after the visa is approved
- Not saving Nusuk login details — you’ll need the same account again for permits before you travel
Applying Yourself vs. Through an Agency
This page walks through the process either way — the screens are largely the same whether you or an agency is completing them. The decision of whether to do it yourself or have an agency handle it is a separate question from how the process works, and we cover that trade-off in detail in our guide to using a travel agency for your Umrah visa.
In short: the process above is identical either way, but an agency absorbs the document-matching and Nusuk-compliance risk on your behalf, which is where most delays happen for first-timers.
Applying With My Umrah Packages
We complete every step above on your behalf as part of our visa service — account setup, document verification, Nusuk-compliant accommodation and transport booking, and tracking your application through to approval. You get updates by phone or WhatsApp rather than needing to log into Nusuk yourself.

FAQs
How do I apply for an E-Umrah visa online?
Through the official Nusuk platform — create an account, enter passport details, book Nusuk-compliant accommodation and transport, upload documents, pay the fee, and wait for approval. See the full walkthrough above.
How long does E-Umrah visa approval take?
Typically a few business days, though this can extend during Ramadan and other peak periods. Apply several weeks ahead of travel rather than at the last minute.
Is accommodation booking required before the visa is approved?
Yes, under current rules. Pre-booked, Nusuk-compliant accommodation and transport must be confirmed as part of the application, not arranged afterward.
How long is the E-Umrah visa valid?
Generally 30 days from the date of issuance — not from your intended travel date. Confirm the current validity rule on the Nusuk platform, as this has changed in recent updates.
Do I need a separate permit to perform Umrah after getting the visa?
Yes. The visa grants entry to Saudi Arabia; you separately book an Umrah permit (and a Rawdah permit for Madinah, if needed) through your Nusuk account before performing the rituals.
Can I apply for the E-Umrah visa without an agency?
Depending on your nationality, a direct application may be available through Nusuk. See our agency vs. independent application guide for the trade-offs.
